Balvinder Sopal

Balvinder graduated in 2001 with a degree in Theatre Studies with Media.  Since graduating she has worked with a number of award winning theatre companies, nationally and internationally. She has worked extensively in radio, film and television. ​

Nathan's discovery of writing started very young with poetry in French and English. He encountered creative writing starting his English bachelor in Paris.

 

He then left for Brooklyn College where he studied playwriting and wrote his first play (Strange Fruits.) He graduated with honours. He then moved to London to further his knowledge of creative writing at City University.

 

After a couple of years in Edinburgh where he produced and directed his first play, he is now back in London where he is working on multiple projects for theatre and screen.

Patrick Watson

After playing a shell-shocked tail gunner in Brylcreem Boys at the age of 15, Patrick has acted, written and directed extensively across a variety of different projects.

 

Graduating from Newcastle University this year with an English Literature degree, Patrick has written one full play, Spoon-Feeders, as well as appearing in a plethora of different roles: from Stanley Kowalski to King George III.

 

Patrick is based in Edinburgh, working on different multi-media projects, and learning French.

Andrea Kvalvaag 

Andrea Kvalvaag is an actress originally from Norway, where she trained as an actress and a dancer from a young age.

 

She has a BA in acting from Falmouth University, where she graduated with a first class degree in 2016. She now lives in Edinburgh where she works on varied performance projects.

 

No Exit was her first time collaborating with NGY Productions

Max Brading

 In the last few years since attaining his Bachelor of Arts from a small country uni, Max has spent his time making weird music and funny noises in Melbourne, Australia.

 

Performing as a solo artist and working with vocalists to develop a unique style and range, Max has now set his sights on composition and sound design.

 

Moving to Edinburgh in 2018, NO EXIT was his first foray into composition and live music for theatre.

Katrina Alexander

Katrina is a theatre technician, with experience in musicals, plays and live music. Graduated with an Honours Degree in Film from Queen Margaret University, with a Dean's List credit from Slippery Rock University, Pennsylvania. 
 

Katrina went on to study at Edinburgh College graduating with a HNC in Technical Theatre, with HND in lighting design.


Since then, Katrina has gone on to work for a vast number of theatres around Edinburgh; including Queen's Hall, Assembly Festival and Festival Theatre, and worked with the likes of Lulu, Legally Blonde The Musical and Jake Bugg.

Dickon Farmar

Rules for living was Dickon's sixth Tower show having last been seen as Henry Higgins in Pygmalion.

 

Previous Tower roles include Scullery in Road, Gideon in Table, Royce in The Night Heron, and Thomas Cromwell in Wolf Hall both in London and at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall.

 

Other roles include Bob Caleo in Holding The Man at The Brockley Jack, Ken Harrison in Whose Life is it Anyway?, and Krogstad in A Doll's House and the workshop of a new play About 500 that previewed at the Barbican. Film includes: Collared and The Wind Cries.

 

He is also a writer and is currently working on his third play.

Alistair is an actor and a presenter, with a varied performance background.

 

Graduating in 2007 with a Modern Drama Studies degree from Brunel University, Alistair immediately turned his hand to working professionally in musical theatre, voiceover work, singing and game/award show hosting.

 

After working abroad for a number of years, Alistair relocated to Edinburgh in 2013, working in sketch comedy, historical theatre and extensively with the prolific spoken word group Loud Poets.

Kasia Chodurek

Rules for living was Kasia Chodurek's first show with the Tower Theatre, having taken a break from the stage for the past 2 years to focus on professional exams.

 

Kasia has performed at theatres across the UK, including most recently at the Bridewell Theatre, Tristan Bates Theatre and as part of two Edinburgh Fringe Festival productions. As well as acting in a brand new space with a brand new company, she is excited to dive into her first comedic role in several years.

Adam Hampton-Matthews

Adam for joined the Tower Theatre back in 2014. Previous roles include Ben in Deposit, Christophe and Francis Weston in Wolf Hall, Ned in Nell Gwynn, Edgar in King Lear, Lomax in Major Barbara, George in Sons of Paradise and numerous roles in the award winning production of The Producers.

 

Other credits include Lawrence in Calendar Girls, Uncle Max in The Sound of Music, Warbucks in Annie and Leaf in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Hattie Hahn

Rules for living was Hattie's second show with the Tower Theatre and she is delighted to be back spreading some Christmas cheer!

 

Her debut with the Tower was as Jan in Bedroom Farce. Other roles include Alice in Alice in Wonderland, Cookie in Rumours and Bridget in A Chorus of Disapproval, all with the Barclays Spread Eagle Players.

Rosanna Preston

Rosanna Preston's has returned to acting after an extended break and has been training at the City Lit over the last year. Rules for Living was her third acting role at the Tower Theatre - she played the King of France in Henry V and Mrs Higgins in Pygmalion.

 

Other roles include Polina in The Seagull (Woodhouse Players), Trowle in the Chester Mystery Plays (Players of St Peter), Wife in Let us Make the Flames of the Revolution Rage Furiously (Saw It Here First productions), Queen Atossa in The Persians (Theatro Technis), Zelda in An Afternoon in Zelda's Silence, (Theatripy) and Charlotte in This Play Will Solve Climate Change (White Bear Theatre). Rosanna played Helen in the film Box and recently made her directing debut with Visitors (Woodhouse Players).

Tom Tillery

Born and educated in the West of Scotland Tom Tillery's first stage appearance was as the Knave of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland while still a schoolboy over 60 years ago. He broadcast regularly on BBC Children's Hour before moving to London and joining the Tower Theatre in 1959. He has appeared in over 170 productions in London, the East and West Coasts of America, France (Arles and Paris), Austria, Germany, Gibraltar and Prague.

 

Favourite roles include Jack in Home, Pickering in Pygmalion, Jaques in As You Like It and Sadie Spangle in Goldilocks and the Three Bears. He worked at the Royal Opera House as Music Librarian for over 25 years and contributed programme notes for the Royal Ballet, Sadlers Wells Ballet and the English National Ballet. His own programme collection contains over 6500 programmes. He was pleased to serve on the Olivier Awards Panel in 2004.

Helena Braithwaite

Rules for Living was Helena's first show with the Tower Theatre Company. In July this year she was seen performing as Lady Macbeth and last November as Jade in The Jurassic Parks, both with the Woodhouse Players. Helena has also been honing her production skills this year, assistant directing the pantomime Puss in Boots and directing Bull, also with the Woodhouse Players.

John Chapman

John Chapman has appeared in/directed over 150 productions and relishes an onstage technical challenge such as the one provided by Rules For Living. Somewhat of a "latecomer" to the Tower Theatre, he debuted as Mr Micawber in David Copperfield (2012) and has since been in another dozen Tower productions; most recently these were To Kill A Mockingbird, Wolf Hall and Kafka's Dick playing a "baddie" in all three.

 

In 2016 he had the honour to play Bottom at both the Barbican and Royal Shakespeare Theatre in the RSC/Tower production of A Midsummer Night's Dream : A Play For The Nation. His first Tower directing job was with Bedroom Farce in 2017 which was very positively reviewed.
